Campervan Gear – My Full-Time Van Life Setup

My Campervan Gear & Setup

This page is a complete breakdown of the campervan gear I use while living full-time on the road across Australia. After building my own campervan from the ground up, I’ve spent a lot of time refining the campervan setup to make everyday van life practical, reliable, and comfortable.

From the electrical system and kitchen appliances to storage, plumbing, and everyday van life essentials, everything listed here is gear I personally use in my campervan build and rely on while travelling full-time.

The goal was to create a simple and dependable campervan setup that allows me to live comfortably off-grid while travelling around Australia.

Exterior Campervan Gear

The exterior of a campervan quickly becomes part of your living space when you're travelling full-time. A good exterior campervan setup can add valuable space to the van and make everyday life on the road far more comfortable. From the awning that creates shade and shelter, to simple additions like outdoor mats and power outlets, every piece of exterior campervan gear on this build has a purpose. My goal was to keep everything practical, reliable, and easy to maintain while living off-grid around Australia.

Campervan Cabin Upgrades

The cabin of the campervan isn’t just for driving — it quickly becomes part of your living space when you’re travelling full-time. A few simple campervan cabin upgrades can make a huge difference to comfort on the road. Block-out window covers provide privacy and temperature control, swivel seats create extra seating inside the van, and an upgraded sound system makes those long drives across Australia far more enjoyable.

Campervan Kitchen Appliances

When living in a campervan full-time, the kitchen becomes one of the most important parts of the setup. Being able to cook proper meals and store food reliably makes life on the road far more comfortable. I built my campervan kitchen around two key appliances — the oven and the fridge — choosing products that are reliable, efficient, and suited to full-time van life across Australia.

Campervan Kitchen Accessories

Once the main campervan kitchen appliances were installed, the rest of the setup came down to simple kitchen accessories that make everyday cooking easier on the road. These are the small items I use daily in the van, from cookware and utensils to drying racks and storage containers. None of them are complicated, but together they help keep the campervan kitchen organised, practical, and easy to use while travelling full-time.

Campervan Bed & Seating Setup

Comfort becomes incredibly important when living in a campervan full-time, especially when it comes to where you sleep and relax. The bed and seating area in my van is mostly custom-built to maximise space and create a practical layout for everyday van life. While much of the structure is built directly into the campervan, a good mattress and quality bedding make a big difference when you're sleeping in the same space every night on the road.

Campervan Electrical Setup

When building my campervan, the electrical system was one area I didn’t want to compromise on. Reliable power is essential for full-time van life, especially when living off-grid for long periods. This campervan electrical setup is built around high-quality components designed to run everything from the fridge and lighting to charging camera gear and everyday electronics while travelling around Australia.

Campervan Plumbing Setup

The campervan plumbing setup is designed to be simple, reliable, and easy to maintain while living on the road. When travelling full-time, you don’t want complicated systems that are difficult to repair if something goes wrong. This van life water system provides everything needed for daily living, including running water for the kitchen and a hot shower, while remaining practical and dependable for life off-grid.

Campervan Garage Storage

The garage compartment is where a lot of the everyday gear is stored while travelling full-time in the campervan. It’s designed to keep equipment organised and separate from the main living space inside the van. This area holds items like fishing gear, outdoor equipment, and other essentials that are used regularly on the road. A well-organised campervan storage setup makes life much easier when moving between campsites and exploring different locations.

Essential Campervan Accessories

Not every part of a campervan setup is a major component of the build. Some of the most useful items are the small accessories that help make everyday van life easier. These are the practical pieces of campervan gear that connect power, manage water, and help keep everything running smoothly when setting up at campsites. They may not be the most exciting part of the build, but they are essential for comfortable full-time van life on the road.
