This is a full overview of the vehicle—covering everything from the exterior and interior, to the rear and canopy setups, 12V system, accessories, and even a few honest imperfections. I've built this Hilux from the ground up with pride, care, and a whole lot of hard work. Everything has been done with purpose and experience in mind, and it’s been an absolute weapon out on the road and in the bush.
This is more than just a 4x4—it’s a proper adventure rig, ready for anything from weekend getaways to the full lap around Australia. It’s fuel efficient, practical, and rock-solid reliable. Whether you’re into remote camping, touring, or just want a vehicle that’s already been set up with all the right gear, this Hilux has you covered.
The custom 12V system runs like a dream—powering fridges, camera gear, and electronics completely off-grid with barely any need for backup charging. The rear setup is versatile, switching between a full camping layout and back to standard seating in under 15 minutes. Everything has been thought through, from storage space to lighting and workflow, making it not only functional but genuinely enjoyable to live out of on the road.
You’re not just buying a vehicle—you’re buying years of experience packed into one rig. The next owner is going to be seriously lucky. This Hilux is ready to drive straight into your next adventure without needing to worry. If you’ve been waiting for the right 4x4 that’s already proven, dialled-in, and built with love—this is it.

The 12V setup in this Hilux was custom-built by me with practicality and ease of use in mind. It’s all neatly integrated into the vehicle and works perfectly whether you’re running the rear seats or the full camping setup.
I’ve had the rear seats modified so they can fold forward, which most Hilux models don’t allow. This makes it super easy to access the 12V gear, like checking a fuse or flicking off one of the master switches.
There are separate master switches for both solar and alternator input. Since the Hilux has a smaller alternator, I usually stick to solar and only use alternator charging when absolutely needed. On my longest trip (15 days completely off-grid), I only had to use the DC/DC charger once, and that was after two cloudy days. It kept the fridge running the whole time and easily recharged all my camera gear (DSLRs, drone, GoPros, laptop) every day.
In the three years I’ve owned the vehicle, I’ve only needed the DC/DC charger three times. The whole system’s been built with off-grid travel in mind, so you can head out and not worry about running out of power.
Please note: The rear seats can be reinstalled in under 15 minutes. The false floor is secured using six bolts and can be removed as a complete unit, making it quick and easy to convert the space. This setup was custom-designed for camping trips—maximising practicality while still allowing for a seamless return to the original seating layout. The rear seats are also protected with durable black Duck car seat covers, and the floors can be fitted with Sandgrabba floor mats for extra protection and easy cleaning.

This Hilux has one of the most straightforward and practical camping setups I’ve used—super easy and ready to hit the road.
A 2m Darche awning is included in the sale (just not pictured), and I’ve pre-run wiring through the canopy in case you want to upgrade to a 270-degree freestanding awning. That was always my plan—it gives you way more coverage for cooking and sleeping, plus space for ambient lighting. I just never got around to finishing it since I’ve been using my campervan more lately.
One small suggestion I’d recommend is installing a bayonet fitting for the gas bottle. That way, you can keep the bottle secured in the vehicle and hook it up with a simple one-click connection, which makes cooking even quicker and easier. With just a couple of finishing touches, this could be the perfect camping setup for someone ready to make the most of it.

As with any well-loved vehicle that’s 11 years old, there are a few minor imperfections worth noting. The canopy could benefit from a respray if you're after a showroom finish, but it’s purely cosmetic and never bothered me personally. Overall, the vehicle presents exceptionally well for its age. If you have any questions or would like more details on the condition, feel free to reach out—I'm happy to chat.
