Day 1 – Marion Bay (Dinner)

Arrive at Marion Bay in the afternoon for a welcome lunch. Unpack and unwind and settle into your accommodation before we head out for our first sunset photography session.

Sunset will be at Gym Beach, a 15-minute drive from our accommodation. At this location, we will have a heavy focus on foreground elements and leading line learning how to enhance the image through the composition.

If weather conditions allow us, we will also drive to a location to shoot the Milky Way throughout the night. Timing will depend on what time the Milky Way’s core rises.

If you arrive early at Marion Bay, you’re more than welcome to explore the surrounding area.

Day 2 – Innes National Park (Lunch)

Firstly, our sunrise shoot will showcase one of the most iconic views of the Innes National Park. However, we will focus on mastering in-camera settings for landscape photography and reading a histogram.

Secondly, after sunrise, we will learn how to location scouting for night Milky Way Photography. Learn step by step on how to find the perfect location for the Milky Way to save you time and effort in the dark.

Finally, our sunset location will see us visit one of the most iconic views in the Innes National Park, Cape Spencer Lighthouse.

Day 3 – Innes National Park (Dinner)

Our sunrise shoot takes us back in the Innes National Park at a stunning location, Ethel Wreck Beach. Therefore, ethel wreck will offer powerful foreground elements. However, here we may have to learn a new technique of focus stacking to obtain a sharp image throughout the entire picture.

Our last sunrise of the weekend will be at the pristine Dolphin Bay. Understanding how colour can enhance and create depth in our image.

Additionally, a night photography session of capturing the Milky way’s core if the weather condition allows us.

Day 4 – Innes National Park (Breakfast)

Firstly, our sunrise shoot will take us to Stenhouse Bay Jetty & coastal walk. A short and flat 2km coastal walk offering stunning views of the Innes National Park. The morning session will focus on natural lighting and slower shutter speeds from the crashing waves along the coast.

Lastly, we will have a cooked breakfast together before making our journey back home after a very successful photography long-weekend.

Why the Innes National Park?

Growing up in South Australia, the Innes National Park is very close to my heart. I used to visit this area of South Australia throughout my childhood, where my passion for landscape photography began. The Innes National Park is arguably home to the most stunning coastline in South Australia, allowing photographers to capture incredible images around every corner.

Additionally, The National Park is an entirely dark area of South Australia, allowing us the unique opportunity to capture the Milky Way’s core. Photographing at multiple locations and conditions on the Yorke Peninsula coastline will enable us to cover various skills inside landscape & night photography. This tours designed to be a perfect blend of improving your photography skills, witness a breathtaking location in South Australia and creating everlasting memories.

This South Australia Photography Tour will cater to all type of photographer from beginners to experts. Each unique location we visit will offer something to suit your photography capabilities. I attended the private winter Slovenia tour. I didn't need a photography teacher but wanted a local guide that... understands the needs of landscape photography, hence the choice of a photography tour. I am very glad I choice Matthew. He was punctual and patient (we drove to the same locations several times during the short tour as per my request). The tour was organized perfectly. Will definitely think on taking future tours with him.read more

I joined Matthew Storer and Maurice van den Boogaard in December 2019 to Tromso, Norway. With the hopes of capturing... the nothern lights for myself.I had basic photography knowlegde about shutterspeed, aperture ISO settings and 4-5 years experience with ''average holliday shots'' with occesionaly a picture that I might really like. So, I borrowed a tripod, got myself a wide-angle F2.8 lens and for the first time put the camara in manual. Matthew has a very calm, easy to understand way of teaching, and gives you advice, one step at the time for the current situation. He does this without forcing you to do things a certain way and is also truely interested what you want to accomplish as a photographer. I must admit, that due to the short-daylight hours, freezing temperatures and ofcourse waiting for the best northern light conditions. (And dispite the extra Sami experience) There are a few dull afternoons/evenings, Matthew Storer made great use of this time, to teach the basics of post-production edditing. So no time wasted there and one very large bonus. Also his post-tour support for eddition pictures is simply amazing and I think its likely that I will try one of his other landscape photography courses in the future. Thank you!read more

Last December I went to Tromsø with Matt and Surviking for a low-light photography tour, hoping to catch the northern... lights. While patiently waiting for the lights, we visited many great locations to practice the skills required to capture them, and then spent some time learning more about post-production to get the most out of our images. I learnt so many post-production tricks that I know I will use to better my photography in the future. This was mainly due to Matt's endless patience in answering my questions and his commitment to making sure I learnt as much as I could in such a short period of time. His skills are evident when he answers any photography related question and as a result, I'd recommend the trip to anyone wanting to improve their night photography skills (you might even see the northern lights on the way)! It was truly wonderful, thank you.read more

I attended the Northern Lights tour to Tromso last December. 7 years ago I did a basic photography course, so I already... knew a few things about photography. But this was a special trip for shooting in low light. I have learned a lot. How do I use the ISO, the aperture, shutter speed and how do I determine the best composition. But also a lot about post-processing (the magic word of the tour😄). Matthew was a great teacher and gave me a lot of information to take home and learn. Thank you very much!read more

Having attended one of Matthew’s photography tours in Slovenia, I can’t recommend them highly enough. Throughout... the tour, Matthew was very professional and patient, a great teacher with a lot of knowledge and a passion for teaching. With the knowledge and experience gained through the tour, the change within my own photography has been massive, which will be beneficial going forward. As for the locations visited on the tour, each location was stunning and not only provide many different images but also shows just how incredible Slovenia really is. Even the accommodation that Matthew provided during the tour was superb and couldn’t have asked for anywhere better. Overall an amazing experience and worth all the 5 stars and more.I certainly aim to join Matthew on another tour in the future!read more

Starting by how to prepare... for an adventure, how to select your destinations for good images, actual composition and technical advice while taking images - all these aspects gathered me some nice images to take away from the workshop.read more
